
Project Synchro: Inspiring Young Minds Through IoT
A memorable educational outreach experience at Maputugala Maha Vidyalaya, introducing school students to Arduino, embedded systems, and IoT through hands-on learning as part of Project Synchro.
I had the opportunity to be part of Project Synchro, an educational outreach initiative organized by the Leo Club of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in collaboration with the Lions Club of Godigamuwa Centennial.
Held at Maputugala Maha Vidyalaya, the workshop focused on introducing school IT students to the fundamentals of Arduino, embedded systems, and the Internet of Things (IoT) through interactive and hands-on learning.
Sharing Knowledge Through Hands-on Learning
One of the most rewarding parts of the experience was being able to introduce students to the connection between programming and hardware. Through practical activities, students had the opportunity to explore Arduino and understand how sensors and electronic components can be used to build simple IoT-based applications.

The enthusiasm and curiosity shown by the students made the session especially memorable. Seeing them work with the components and explore the concepts introduced during the workshop was a reminder of how valuable practical exposure can be in developing an interest in technology.

A Meaningful Experience
As an educator, this experience was also an opportunity for me to reflect on the importance of making technical knowledge accessible to younger learners. Explaining concepts to school students encouraged me to approach familiar technical topics from a simpler and more engaging perspective.
I was also grateful to receive recognition from the Leo Club of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura for contributing to the workshop. Their appreciation made the experience even more meaningful.

Looking Back
Project Synchro was more than just an IoT workshop. It was an opportunity to share knowledge, encourage curiosity, and inspire young minds to explore technology.
I am thankful to the Leo Club of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and the Lions Club of Godigamuwa Centennial for organizing this initiative and allowing me to contribute. I am equally grateful to the principal, teachers, and students of Maputugala Maha Vidyalaya for their warm welcome and enthusiastic participation.
Project Synchro reminded me that some of the most rewarding experiences in technology are not only about building systems, but also about sharing knowledge and helping others discover the possibilities of technology.
